Business Printing from ERP

PLOSSYS netdome supports all ERP systems which generate at least one of these print formats:

  • PDF
  • PostScript
  • TXT, ASCII
  • SAPGOF, SAPOTF

The standard PLOSSYS Windows Client and GLPD are used for the integration interface.

For SAP ERP, the standard implementation uses the interface BC-XOM (Business Connector Output Management). This interface connects the SAP output with the output of PLOSSYS netdome.

Via BC-XOM

This open interface is provided within SAP for the integration of the R/3 spool system with external output management systems (OMS). The interface currentlysupports protocols for:

  • The delivery of output jobs from R/3 spool system to an external OMS with a print command
  • The request of status information with a cyclical inquiry command (selectable, if callback is supported).
  • The active routing of status information from external OMS to the R/3 spool system by using selectable "callback" mechanisms. Callback functionality is implemented with the R/3 RFC (Remote Function Call) technology.
  • The selectable permission of user inquiries for R/3 output jobs

The interface should enable a closer and more reliable connection between the R/3 spool system and the customer's external print management structure. Output management systems are commonly used in complex enterprise-wide system environments.

With the XOM interface, the customer's investment is protected and the output management is simplified.  This is due to the fact that the R/3 spool system is integrated with an external OMS.

The interface was created to alleviate the problems caused by the limitations of host print administration functions. For example, in UNIX systems the standard LPD/LP implementations offer no mechanism for the acitive feedback of status information to an application program like R/3. With this limited functionality, the application has to request status information cyclically.
